Giostra di Giovanni Full-Plate Tournament – A Test of Steel and Honor

On May 10, 2025, beneath the fortified walls of Livorno, Tuscany, warriors clad in gleaming steel shall enter the lists for the Giostra di Giovanni Full-Plate Tournament—a battle where skill, endurance, and honor will be tested in its purest form.

This grand contest shall feature four fearsome categories, each demanding a unique mastery of arms:

• Poleaxe – The brutal weapon of the battlefield, wielded with devastating power and precision.

• Longsword – The timeless weapon of knights, swift, elegant, and deadly.

• Shield & Axe – A test of power and defense, where crushing blows meet strategic resilience.

• Old German Style Combat – A trial of adaptability, where warriors fight with spear, longsword, and dagger, discarding or hurling weapons at will, until only the last steel remains in hand.

Tournament Rules: A Battle Without Mercy

In all categories, knights may use blade strikes, thrusts, punches, kicks, and grappling, but only weapon strikes and thrusts shall be counted for victory.

• Poleaxe, Longsword, and Shield & Axe – Battles last 1.5 minutes or end with a decisive thrust to designated mail-covered target zones. If a knight falls, combat is halted, and both warriors are raised before continuing.

• Old German Style Combat – A relentless 2.5-minute duel, where knights exchange weapons at will—discarding spears, clashing swords, and drawing daggers as the fight rages on. A fallen warrior does not halt the fight; instead, the battle shifts to the final contest of steel and will.
