Full-Impact Jousting Comes to Tuscany Medieval Festival!

For the first time in Italy, the Tuscany Medieval Festival will host a full-contact jousting tournament, bringing the thrill of authentic medieval equestrian combat to Livorno. This incredible spectacle will take place on May 9–11, 2025, at Fortezza Nuova, offering visitors an immersive and unforgettable experience.

A Historic First for Italy

In collaboration with Les Écuyers de l’Histoire, one of the world’s leading historical equestrian associations, the festival will showcase a joust unlike any seen before on Italian soil. Specializing in full-impact jousting, this elite group has traveled across the globe, staging some of the most prestigious tournaments in the world. Their expertise ensures that spectators will witness a fierce and breathtaking competition, staying true to the traditions of medieval chivalry.

Meet Our Equestrian Champions

Les Écuyers de l’Histoire is a multi-era historical reenactment association dedicated to preserving and demonstrating the role of knights and their horses throughout history. Their members meticulously recreate historical costumes, weapons, and tack based on primary sources, ensuring the highest level of authenticity.

Their reputation precedes them: in 2023, they organized the World Jousting Championships in Romania, where their president, Michael Sadde, claimed the title of World Champion. With over 15 years of experience, they have performed in 14 countries, from Australia to the United States, Canada, Russia, and across Europe.

A Unique Opportunity

For one weekend only, these renowned knights will be in Italy exclusively for the Tuscany Medieval Festival. This is a rare chance to witness history come alive with real armored knights, real horses, and real combat.
