Río de la Plata 2026
One of South America’s key HMB events returns to Buenos Aires as ALACoM brings the third edition of the Río de la Plata Tournament to the CEDEM 2 arena in Caseros.

On 28–29 March 2026, the Río de la Plata Tournament will once again take over the CEDEM 2 sports complex in Caseros, Buenos Aires Province. The venue has already hosted previous editions of the event and has proven itself a perfect arena for full-contact medieval battles, with enough space and infrastructure to welcome athletes and spectators from across Latin America.
The tournament is organized by the Alianza Latinoamericana de Combate Medieval (ALACoM) – the Latin American Medieval Combat Alliance. This organization unites clubs and fighters from countries such as Argentina, Chile, Brazil and Mexico, building a shared competitive circuit for HMB and buhurt in the region. Río de la Plata is one of the flagship events in this circuit and a key date in the Latin American HMB calendar.
In previous years, the tournament has featured intense 5v5 buhurt melees, duels in multiple weapon categories, and large mass battles. Teams from different parts of the continent have used Río de la Plata to test new lineups, prepare for international championships and measure themselves against regional rivals. The 2026 edition is expected to continue this tradition, gathering both returning veterans and new contenders on the list.
ALACoM focuses not only on high-level competition, but also on professional organization and growth of the sport. Through events like Río de la Plata, the alliance works to standardize rules, improve safety, and create more opportunities for fighters to compete regularly without leaving the continent. Each new edition of the tournament builds on the experience of previous years, raising the bar for production quality, judging and logistics.
While detailed schedules, final list of categories and registered teams for 2026 are still to be announced, participants can expect the familiar combination of intense buhurt, technical duels and a strong community atmosphere. Río de la Plata has already earned a reputation as a place where steel, tactics and team spirit define the outcome – and where Latin American HMB shows its full potential.
