Magna Carta: Monteriggioni. The Fourteen Towers

October 3-4, 2026
Monteriggioni, Tuscany, Italy
This autumn, Magna Carta returns to Tuscany.
On October 3-4, the medieval fortress of Monteriggioni will once again become a battlefield as Magna Carta: Monteriggioni. The Fourteen Towers joins the Tuscany Medieval Festival, bringing two days of medieval battles, living history, and celebration to one of Italy’s most iconic walled towns.
Built in the early 13th century to defend the Republic of Siena against Florence, Monteriggioni has stood for more than eight centuries behind its famous ring of fourteen towers. Praised by Dante in the Divine Comedy, the fortress remains one of the best-preserved medieval strongholds in Europe and the perfect setting for battles worthy of its history.
The event will once again bring together the core disciplines that define Magna Carta.
The Battle of Lances (7 vs 7) returns as the tournament’s main competitive category, where teams test their coordination, tactics, and endurance through a series of hard-fought encounters.
The Grand Mêlée, the signature spectacle of every Magna Carta festival, will fill the fortress with the sound of steel as dozens of armored fighters clash in large-scale battles inspired by medieval warfare.
Professional fighters will also return to the lists in The Last Condottiere, where individual skill, precision, and determination take center stage in a tournament dedicated to the traditions of the Italian mercenary captains who once shaped the battlefields of Renaissance Italy.
Beyond the competition itself, Monteriggioni offers what has become one of the defining features of every Magna Carta gathering. Fighters, reenactors, organizers, and spectators come together not only on the battlefield but around the campfires, at the feast, and throughout the festival, creating the unique atmosphere of friendship and brotherhood that defines the project.
Another chapter awaits beneath the fourteen towers.
Another gathering of warriors.
Another weekend where history comes alive.
