Magna Carta: Livorno. Giostra di Giovanni 2026

The flagship event of Magna Carta returns to Livorno for its third edition as part of the Tuscany Medieval Festival.

Over three days, fighters from Europe, South America, and Asia will gather inside the historic walls of Fortezza Nuova for a large-scale international medieval battles event featuring multiple combat formats and a full festival program.


Main events

Battle of Lances (7 vs 7)
The central competition of the tournament. Fast, dynamic team battles where coordination, endurance, and tactical discipline determine the strongest teams.

Battle of Banners
A large-scale mass battle in which all participants are divided into two sides and meet on the field in a full-contact clash of strength, cohesion, and fighting spirit.

Combat à l’outrance
Intense one-on-one duels with a wide range of striking and grappling techniques.

Full Plate Tournament
Individual fights in full historical plate armor, focused on technique, control, and endurance.

Gioco del Ponte
The traditional Tuscan “Battle on the Bridge”, a historical team contest based on strength and collective effort.

Special night event
An additional evening program to be announced.

Saturday Medieval Feast

On Saturday evening, fighters gather for the traditional Magna Carta medieval banquet. Participants change into historical attire and share food, music, and camaraderie, celebrating the spirit of the event beyond competition.
