Magna Carta: Angillon. Under the Maid’s Banner

September 5-6, 2026

Château de La Chapelle d’Angillon, France

Magna Carta returns to France to open the autumn season with a new chapter inspired by one of the most iconic figures of French history.

Magna Carta: Angillon. Under the Maid’s Banner will take place at the Château de La Chapelle d’Angillon, where French knights and fighters from across Europe will gather beneath the Maid’s Banner for two days of medieval battles.

The event brings together the formats that have become the foundation of Magna Carta.

The Battle of Lances (7 vs 7) will once again serve as the central competitive discipline of the festival. In this fast-paced format, teams rely on discipline, coordination, and tactical awareness as they fight for victory in a series of intense encounters.

Alongside it, the Grand Mêlée will transform the field into a spectacle of steel and determination, as dozens of armored fighters divide into opposing sides and meet in large-scale mass battles that have become the hallmark of Magna Carta festivals.

This edition of the event will also mark an important milestone in the history of the project.

For the first time, Magna Carta will host an official women’s tournament.

Since the very first Magna Carta event, female fighters have stood shoulder to shoulder with men in the chaos of mass battles, demonstrating courage, resilience, and martial skill. Earlier this year in Livorno, an experimental women’s bout was held for the first time, receiving an overwhelmingly positive response from fighters and spectators alike.

Angillon will build upon that experience by introducing a dedicated competitive category, creating a new stage for female athletes within the world of medieval battles.

As summer gives way to autumn, the banners will rise once more over France.

A new gathering awaits.
New champions will emerge.
And beneath the Maid’s Banner, a new chapter of Magna Carta will be written.
