The Return of Top-Level Buhurt to Monaco

In 2019, the legendary Chapiteau de l’Espace Fontvieille in Monaco became, for the first time, the arena for historical medieval battles. Under its vast canvas roof, buhurt entered a space usually reserved for the world’s most prestigious events.
The Principality of Monaco is globally known as a stage for iconic international gatherings – from elite sporting competitions to cultural and artistic events of the highest level. The Chapiteau itself has long been synonymous with versatility and excellence, hosting performances, exhibitions, and large-scale productions of many kinds. Most notably, it is famous as the home of the International Circus Festival of Monte-Carlo, where the finest circus troupes from around the world gather each year to compete and perform.
Buhurt Prime: A Benchmark Still Remembered
In 2019, beneath the Chapiteau’s arches, the first Buhurt Prime took place. That event set an unprecedented standard for the organization and presentation of buhurt competitions – a standard that few have been able to approach since.
In 2020, Buhurt Prime returned to the same arena, once again bringing together the elite of the HMB world and confirming Monaco’s status as one of the most exceptional locations ever to host armored combat. The level of fighters, the atmosphere, and the overall execution established Buhurt Prime as a reference point for what a buhurt event could be.
To this day, many fighters and spectators recall Buhurt Prime as a true benchmark of historical medieval battles. Magna Carta now intends to restore Monaco’s place among the most prestigious and respected buhurt locations in Europe – geographically ideal, particularly for teams from France and Italy, and symbolically tied to excellence.

Magna Carta: Monaco. Malizia
On February 7, the Chapiteau de l’Espace Fontvieille will once again witness top-level armored combat with Magna Carta: Monaco. Malizia.
Some of the strongest European teams will meet in the 7 vs 7 category to determine who truly stands at the top. This event marks the opening of the 2026 Magna Carta season, bringing high-intensity combat back to a venue that has already proven its place in buhurt history.
Admission for spectators will be free, and a live broadcast is expected on the official Magna Carta YouTube channel. We invite everyone to follow the channel in advance and join us for what promises to be one of the most significant medieval combat events of the year.
