The Italian legend returns

For the third time, the flagship event of the Magna Carta season returns to the historic walls of Fortezza Nuova in Livorno.
From May 8 to May 10, as part of the Tuscany Medieval Festival, the fortress will once again become a place where history is not remembered, but lived.

This year, the lists will welcome not only leading European teams, but also fighters from South America and Asia, turning Livorno into a true international gathering of the medieval battles world.

At the heart of the festival stands the Battle of Lances — the dynamic and spectacular 7 vs 7 format that has become a favorite among both fighters and spectators. Fast, tactical, and relentless, it represents the modern core of Magna Carta competition.

Yet the most anticipated moment each year remains the Battle of Banners.
All participants of the festival will divide into two great hosts and meet on the field in a massive clash where courage, endurance, discipline, and unity are tested in their purest form.

The program will also feature the formats that have already become hallmarks of Magna Carta — Full Plate duels and Combat à l’outrance — alongside new experiences.
Among them is Gioco del Ponte, the historic “Battle on the Bridge” born in Tuscany itself, as well as a special night event, adding a new dimension to the festival atmosphere.

On Saturday evening, the spirit of the Middle Ages will reach its peak during the legendary medieval feast.
After the battles, fighters will exchange armor for historical attire and gather at long tables, accompanied by live music — sharing food, stories, and laughter with those who stood as opponents only hours before.

Magna Carta: Livorno. Giostra di Giovanni 2026 is set to become one of the defining events of the season — a celebration of strength, tradition, and brotherhood.
